Ready to Burn
Woodsure is the DEFRA appointed Certification Body to administer the Ready to Burn Scheme as recognised in The Air Quality (Domestic Solid Fuels Standards) (England) Regulations 2020.
What fuels are covered by Ready to Burn certification?
- Firewood – including hardwood, softwood and a mixture of both.
- Kindling – made up of very dry, smaller pieces of wood.
- Briquettes – made out of dried, compacted wood, machine compressed into a log or block shape.
- Manufactured Solid Fuels.
What are Manufactured Solid Fuels (MSF)?
A manufactured solid fuel means a fuel manufactured from coal, wood, plant-derived materials, waxes or petroleum products with other ingredients, for the purposes of combustion in domestic premises in England. This doesn’t include exempt fuels, such as coffee, wine or olive logs or miscanthus fuels as set out in the legislation.

Solid Mineral Fuel
All solid mineral fuels listed have been tested and approved by HETAS on behalf of the fuel producer. The testing and approval combined with a quality assurance scheme enables the fuel to carry the HETAS Approved Solid Fuel logo which the consumer should look for.
